Thank you for another magnificent festival. It really is a very special weekend. For me the highlight was the Deanna Durbin film - hope we see her again next year. The Friday night trio was also terrific. Nice save on the Tom Mix mixup! I nearly got to see my first Pola Negri movie. Guess I should have stuffed the ballot box.

I am hoping we are due a Humphrey Bogart film in 2009. Honestly it's reached the point where I find the movies don't matter. Some are great, some just good and some out dated. But the whole weekend experience eclipses the actual pictures.

I still remember attending a Marion Davies silent my first festival in 1995 and there were maybe a dozen people in attendance. You've come a long way since then. The work has been greatly appreciated. This was my 14th festival. I'm looking forward to at least another 30!

I am so pleased to see that you have a Deanna Durbin movie for this year's selection. As a young performer, this Winnipeg soprano seemed to bring a real sense of joy to the screen. I can still see her in Spring Song, walking towards camera, barefooted, and leading a goat, and singing "It's Foolish but it's Fun" and it must have been over 60 years ago!

nice reading.

marie dressler was a great aunt of mine on my father's side. i would like to believe i possess her great sense of humor!

also on that side of the family was the inventor from England, Albert Charles Metcalf Appleton, who invented the heel of the first knitting machine.

call it inventive mania, or what you will, but it shows up on that side of my family. my daughter and i are both inventors also.

it is indeed exciting to think outside the box.

kindness & love to all actors
and their family,

elizabeth
